Programme 2023

“Textilijada 7, an annual event, will be held for the seventh consecutive year. Its primary objective is to initiate discussions at the local and national levels, employing culture, art, and debates to establish partnerships and kickstart a social dialogue addressing pressing issues that impact everyone, particularly workers and young individuals.

The events, which encompass both social and artistic aspects, are designed to motivate young people and workers to actively engage in decision-making processes that affect ordinary citizens. We aim to raise awareness about the importance of advocating for workers’ rights and encourage participants to move beyond their comfort zones, embracing social responsibility. Let us collaborate for essential changes that lead to a brighter future and decent living conditions.

In the past, workers were central to cultural events, shaping culture within their workplaces. Unfortunately, they now find themselves marginalized, culturally and socially disconnected.

The theme of Textiliada 2023 is “Textile Justice – Reflecting on the Past, Envisioning the Future.” This year, Textilijada 7 seeks to underscore the necessity of achieving justice for workers while inspiring fresh ideas to guide us forward, drawing valuable lessons from past mistakes.

Let’s take pride in Shtip’s heritage as a textile city and use positive examples to shift our focus towards the future. Our goal is not only to modernize all facets of the textile industry but also to engage in a social dialogue aimed at securing a better future and elevating workers’ rights.

The erosion of trust in the judicial system is a significant concern. Establishing a transparent and accountable judiciary system is crucial for upholding workers’ rights and ensuring fair access to justice. Encouragingly, global fashion conglomerates are increasingly acknowledging their responsibility in championing labor rights and improving workers’ quality of life throughout their supply chains.

Yet, all these efforts will be in vain if we fail to appreciate and honor our textile city’s heritage. Shtip’s future, along with its textile industry, hinges on a modernized approach across all aspects, starting with rebranding the city itself. Success will also depend on the engagement of all stakeholders in a constructive social dialogue if we are to preserve our identity as a textile city.

By learning from positive examples and collaborating with friends willing to share solutions that have led them from failure to success, we can chart a prosperous path forward.

Our ultimate goal, facilitated through the Cultural and Artistic Center Textile – Shtip, is to foster active civic participation. We aim to bring discussions to the forefront at both the local and regional levels, fostering partnerships and initiating a social dialogue on the most pressing issues in our society, all with the overarching aim of ensuring the dignified lives of our citizens.
